Call for Nominations for the CEC Athletes Commission: Boulder Rep
Want to be more involved in the governance of your sport? The CEC AC is calling for nominations for boulder representative for 2020-2022.
Deadline for nominations: Jan 1, 2020
Elections will be held Jan 11. A booth will be set up as athletes enter isolation at Boulder Nationals. Voting by proxy will be considered if required.
Purpose of the AC
The purpose of the Athletes’ Commission (AC) is to represent and promote the views and interests of the various athletes of Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) to the CEC’s Board of Directors and management on all issues which directly or indirectly affect athletes.
The AC is a group of athletes (former or current) that give recommendations to the CEC in order to bring about the best conditions for open competitors to compete, train and expand in. Discussions in the AC can vary from rules and regulations, quotas, performance, training camps, etc. The AC is responsible for thinking objectively for the good of all athletes in the country. Where possible, the AC should represent the diversity of the sport in Canada, from gender and geography to disciplines. The AC will be primarily geared towards open athletes but will reflect on youth programs and competitions as well.
The AC will be the collective voice of all the CEC’s athletes, regardless of discipline and will assist the organization in the fulfillment of its mission and the pursuit of its vision.
Who can be nominated?
Any Canadian athlete actively competing in CEC sanctioned bouldering events, and who is 16 by December 31st of the current year.
You may nominate another athlete, or yourself.

Any Canadian athlete actively competing in CEC sanctioned bouldering events, and who is 16 by December 31st of the current year.
How long is the term?
This is a two year term.
The AC is currently made up of:
President: Stacey Weldon– Retired national team athlete- CEC board of directors with full voting rights (Up for re-election 2021)
Lead Rep- Becca Frangos– Active CEC athlete (Up for re-election LSN 2020)
Boulder Rep- Alannah Yip– Active CEC athlete (Currently up for re-election)
Speed Rep- Manh Ellis– Active CEC athlete (Appointed to the AC after previous rep resigned. Up for re-election LSN 2020)
