CEC signs on to Responsible Coaching Movement
February 4, 2019 – The CEC is pleased to announce that they will be joining the many other National, Provincial and Local Sporting Organisations that have committed to making sport a safe place, by joining the Responsible Coaching Movement and adhering to its guidelines and principles.
The movement is comprised of a pledge to make sport safe by following its principles and the required programs that you can learn about by following the links below.
The basic principles consist of 3 key components:
- Rule of Two
- Background Screening
- Ethics Training
We recognise that it does take time to complete some of the required courses and certifications. To that end, we will have a phased in approach.
For 2019 all coaches, staff, managers, chaperones, officials and medical personnel attending camps or travelling with either our Youth or Open National Team athletes must have completed the required courses and successfully passed any exams. In addition, they must have an up to date Criminal Record Check that includes a Vulnerable Sector Check.
The exact same requirements will come into place for all of the same people attending Nationally sanctioned events starting in 2020.
Complying with and following the Responsible Coaching Movement is one more step in the CEC’s journey to adopting what are regarded as best practices in the sport sector.
