Le terme « ÉQUIPE D’ÉVÉNEMENT » désigne les athlètes sélectionnés pour représenter le Canada aux compétitions internationales et continentales.
Les sélections pour les équipes d’événements sont différentes des sélections pour le programme haute performance (HPP).
Cette page décrit le cadre de sélection des athlètes pour les compétitions des séries internationales et continentales pour le cycle olympique 2021-2024. Les dates et détails spécifiques pour chaque année seront publiés séparément.
Remarque: Les dates et les lignes directrices de sélection des équipes d’événement 2021 seront affichées au fur et à mesure que CEC confirmera avec l’IFSC la tenue des événements internationaux et seulement si les conditions permettent une participation canadienne en toute sécurité.

CEC sélectionne les équipes d’événements pour les compétitions suivantes:
- Jeux majeurs – Jeux olympiques, Jeux panaméricains, Jeux mondiaux multisports
- Les critères de sélection pour ces épreuves sont déterminés par les organismes directeurs de chacun (c’est-à-dire le CIO pour les Jeux olympiques).
- Championnats du monde, coupes du monde et séries panaméricaines de l’IFSC
- Événements supplémentaires de la Série Continental Select
Senior Event Teams
- Selections will be based on Continuous National Ranking (CNR) and event quotas from governing bodies.
- Event Team Selections will be made at multiple points throughout calendar year
- allows for movement in CNR and opportunities for more athletes to be selected for events.
- The dates and details for ALL event teams selections will be published at least 2 months prior to the first International Event in the calendar year.
- Notification of Selection to an Event Team will be made a minimum of 1 month in advance, however, every effort will be made to position event team selections as far in advance as possible.
- Olympic Cycle progression:
- Years 1 and 2:
- In order to provide opportunities at IFSC World Cups for as many athletes as possible:
- Athletes may be selected to a limited number of events with the following exceptions.
- Athletes in Top 40 of WR at the time of each Event Team Selection: no event limit. Applies to individual discipline WR only.
- If the number of Canadian athletes in the Top 40 of WR is greater than available quota, selections will be made based on highest WR.
- Athletes may be selected to a limited number of events with the following exceptions.
- In order to provide opportunities at IFSC World Cups for as many athletes as possible:
- Year 3 – Olympic Qualification Year:
- Priority Selection to Olympic and National Squads (athletes who are tracking toward Olympics as shown through year 1 and 2 results)
- Combined athletes in Olympic and National Squads (Lead/Boulder) WR will have priority over Lead or Boulder only athletes.
- If the number of athletes in the Olympic and National Squads is greater than available quota, selections will be made based on highest WR.
- Priority Selection to Olympic and National Squads (athletes who are tracking toward Olympics as shown through year 1 and 2 results)
- Year 4 – Olympic Year
- Priority Selection to Olympic Squad
- If the number of athletes in the Olympic Squad is greater than available quota, priority will be given to athletes who are still in Olympic Qualification process over athletes who are already qualified for Olympic Games.

- Years 1 and 2:
- Minimum Performance Standards

- Speed – in addition to meeting guidelines above for selection, speed only athletes must meet minimum times (established in official competition) outlined within the HPP and Event Team Selection details for each Year.

Youth Event Teams
Youth B
- Selections will be based on most recent Youth National Championships.
Youth A and Junior
- Athletes in the Senior High-Performance Program:
- Selected to Youth Event Teams based on CNR at the time of event team selection.
- Have priority over athletes outside Senior HPP.
- Athletes not in the Senior High-Performance Program:
- Selected to remaining Youth Event Team quota spots based on results from most recent Youth National Championships.
Event Team Support
CEC will support event teams at select competitions with a minimum of 1 team official.
Athletes may attend select events without team officials at the discretion of the HPD and HPP Head Coach after consideration of the following factors:
- Location of Event.
- Travel and Accommodation Logistics.
- Athlete readiness (maturity, self-reliance, experience, * personal support in attendance).
* Personal support includes family and/or personal coaches. Please note that these individuals cannot be granted Team Canada official designation for the purpose of entering the field of play (isolation etc) or filing appeals.
