Climbing Escalade Canada has published two updated high-performance policy documents: the final Lima 2027 Pan American Games Internal Nomination Procedure and Version 3 of the 2026 National Team Policy.
Final Lima 2027 Pan American Games Internal Nomination Procedure
The final Lima 2027 Internal Nomination Procedure has been approved by the CEC Board of Directors and published following World Climbing’s release and confirmation of the final qualification system for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games climbing competition.
The provisional status of the document has now been removed. Key updates include:
- The addition of the confirmed sport climbing competition dates.
- Clarification of the two qualification pathways and the allocation and reallocation of quota places.
- Confirmation of qualification, quota-confirmation and team-selection timelines.
- Expanded athlete eligibility, administrative and travel-compliance requirements.
- Clarification of decision-making authority before and during the Games.
- Updates to the procedures governing athlete nomination, alternates, removal and unforeseen circumstances.
The Lima 2027 sport climbing competition will take place from July 24–27, 2027, with CEC’s team-selection decision scheduled for March 1, 2027.
Version 3 of the 2026 National Team Policy
Version 3 of the National Team Policy includes two targeted changes to the Continuous National Ranking system.
The Salt Lake City competition, which was previously identified as a North American Cup Series event, has been reclassified as a Pan Am Series event. Because the event remains open-registration and is being operated in a manner largely consistent with an NACS competition, a Size of Field Factor will be applied to all CNR points earned at the Salt Lake City Pan Am Series.
The policy also clarifies and aligns the CNR point cut-offs applied to Pan Am Series and Pan American Championships competitions with established Continuous National Ranking practices.
Athletes, coaches and other National Team Program stakeholders are encouraged to review the updated documents.
