Be a Voice for Climbing Athletes – Nominate Yourself or Others!

Climbing Canada invites eligible athletes to nominate themselves or fellow athletes for positions on the Athletes’ Commission (AC). The AC plays a crucial role in representing and promoting the interests of athletes, ensuring their effective participation in decision-making processes within Climbing Canada.

Key Responsibilities of AC Members:

  • Advocate for Athletes: Represent and promote the views and interests of athletes to the Climbing Canada Board with an eye toward maximizing athlete performance at a national and international level.
  • Communication: Provide an open avenue for communication between athletes and the Climbing Canada Board and committees.
  • Recommendations: Offer recommendations on events, programs, rules, regulations, quotas, and athlete performance.
  • Performance Maximization: Support the growth of all athletes, connecting them to necessary resources.
  • Budget Advisory: Advise Climbing Canada’s budget, especially related to the high-performance team and competition spending.

Election Process:

  • Nomination Period: February 15 to March 8.
  • Voting Period: March 11 to March 15.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Athletes must be at least 16 years old.
  • Hold a valid and active CEC athlete license.
  • Not be subject to any sanctions that impair participation in the Commission.
  • Not employed by Climbing Canada.
  • Specific requirements for Discipline Representatives, Para-Climbing Representative, and Domestic Competitor Representatives as outlined in Section 4.4 of the Terms of Reference.

How to Nominate:

  • Submit self-nominations or nominations for others via this Nomination Form by March 8.
  • All nominated athletes will be contacted to confirm their willingness to stand for election.
  • Online instant-runoff voting will take place from March 11 to March 15.
