Climbing Association of Manitoba becomes newest member of Climbing Escalade Canada

Jan 16, 2023

Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) is excited to welcome the Climbing Association of Manitoba (CAM) as the newest member of the CEC. The CAM is also recognized as the official Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) for competition climbing in Manitoba. The CAM was incorporated in 2020, and has grown steadily over the past two years. CAM becomes the sixth PTSO to join the CEC family, and the CEC looks forward to working with CAM in the future.

“It is a privilege to welcome the Climbing Association of Manitoba into our family of strong organizations empowering climbers in their individual development pathways in Canada. CAM will have an important voice in helping CEC shape the direction of competition climbing in the years to come” says Christiane Marceau, Executive Director of CEC.

CEC is Canada’s national governing body for the sport of competition climbing. The purpose of CEC is to be a leader in the promotion and development of competition climbing in Canada for athletes and the extended climbing community. CEC strives to enable athletes to achieve high performance potential in an ethical, equitable, and equal competition environment.

This ambitious purpose could not be achieved without the help and support of the Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations (PTSO) and the Alpine Club of Canada. CAM’s goal is to promote and develop competition climbing in Manitoba for athletes, and the extended climbing community.

“We have seen over the past two years the excitement and interest related to growing climbing as an provincially recognized sport in Manitoba. With this momentum we are eager to support and partner with Climbing Escalade Canada in working towards the promotion and development of competition climbing.” – Mario Ferreira, CAM President
