Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) today unveiled its 2025–2028 Strategic Plan, a roadmap to support and elevate Canadian competition climbers and paraclimbers on the path to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The plan defines CEC’s mission, vision, values, and strategic imperatives, and will guide decision-making and community accountability over the next quadrennial.
“At its heart, this plan puts athletes first,” said Christiane Marceau, Executive Director, Climbing Escalade Canada. “We’re recommitting to an athlete-centred culture, clear accountability, and sustainable growth as we build the high-performance system our athletes need to succeed on the world stage—on the road to L.A. 2028 and beyond.”
Mission, values, and vision to 2028
CEC’s mission is to support and elevate Canadian competition climbers and paraclimbers and to lead a world-class high-performance system that enables success at the highest levels of sport, including the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The plan affirms five core values: athlete-centred, accountability, sustainability, inclusivity, and a culture of excellence.
By 2028, CEC aims to:
- Re-ignite an athlete-centred focus, amplifying athlete voice in decision-making;
- Promote high-performance success, with Canadian athletes qualified for LA 2028 (Olympic and Paralympic Games);
- Diversify and increase revenue, reducing reliance on any single funding source;
- Increase staff headcount to fully deliver the plan; and
- Improve community relations and engagement through transparency and regular touchpoints.
