Climbing Escalade Canada welcomes Climb Nova Scotia as its newest member!

Feb 14, 2024

Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) is excited to welcome Climb Nova Scotia (ClimbNS) as the newest member of the CEC. Climb Nova Scotia is recognized as the official Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) for competition climbing in Nova Scotia. ClimbNS is the 7th province to officially join the CEC membership!

“It is impressive to see the massive growth of climbing in Canada over the last few years, and the addition of Climb Nova Scotia to our membership proves that our sport is reaching more Canadians than ever before”, says Christiane Marceau, Executive Director of CEC.

Climb Nova Scotia was incorporated in 1991, and has recently added competition climbing to its activities.

“We have seen a boom in interest in competitive climbing which has been further bolstered by the opening of two new gyms in the region, ” says Dominique Hurst, PSO Committee Lead. “As a result, a sport committee was formed in 2021 within CNS to ensure our athletes have a voice at a provincial and national level.”

CEC is Canada’s national governing body for the sport of competition climbing. The purpose of CEC is to lead the promotion and development of competition climbing in Canada for athletes and the extended climbing community. CEC strives to enable athletes to achieve high performance potential in a safe, ethical, and equitable competition environment.

This ambitious purpose could not be achieved without the help and support of the Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations (PTSO) and the Alpine Club of Canada. Climb Nova Scotia’s goals align with the national mission.
