CEC is so very excited to welcome Veronica Joy Sweeney to the CEC Team! Veronica will fill the position of CEC Sport Development Coordinator, starting on August 22nd, 2022.
Veronica Joy Sweeney (she/her) comes to Climbing Escalade Canada with a wide variety of sports and business event planning experience, including race series, climbing events, and large corporate conferences. Her strong relationship-building skills, attention to detail, and lifelong love for the sport of climbing make her an incredible fit for the Sport Development Coordinator role.
The climbing community has been an integral part of Veronica’s life since joining her local youth team at age 13, spending so much time at the climbing gym it quickly became her second home. She has been involved in many different facets of the climbing world since that time, from route setting to coaching, to being a member of the Climb Nova Scotia board, and competing in bouldering nationals.
“Climbing is growing exponentially, and I am excited to be a part of ensuring our community is expanding in a safe and responsible direction with more space for diversity and inclusion while empowering our athletes.”
Veronica’s portfolio will include management of all CEC domestic events, as well as program development such as safe sport, diversity, coaching, routesetting, and official resources.
