Climbing Escalade Canada is proud to announce the return of the Jaxson MacDonald Memorial Grant for 2026, continuing its commitment to supporting Youth National Team athletes who embody the spirit of climbing and community, while honouring and preserving Jaxson’s legacy.
This year, a minimum of six athletes will each receive a $1,000 bursary, with the potential to support additional recipients through the generosity of our community. Every contribution helps expand the reach and impact of this meaningful initiative.

More than a performance-based award, the Jaxson MacDonald Memorial Grant recognizes athletes who demonstrate the values that defined Jaxson—community, enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and a genuine passion for climbing. This grant celebrates those who uplift others, contribute positively to team environments, and represent the true spirit of the sport, both on and off the wall.
As part of this commitment, priority will be given to athletes who have not previously received the grant, ensuring a broader impact across the community, while maintaining eligibility for past recipients.
Recipients will be selected by an independent review panel, following a structured and thoughtful process:
- Independent evaluation and ranking of applications
- Consideration of multiple factors to ensure balance across recipients
- A collaborative discussion process, with a goal of reaching consensus (unanimous decisions where possible)
Athletes are invited to apply now; however, applications will be reviewed once the Youth National Team has been finalized (May 19). The application deadline is June 1.
Together, we continue to honour Jaxson’s legacy by investing in the people who make our climbing community stronger.
