Behind every thrilling climbing event in Canada is a dedicated crew of volunteers making it all happen. From the moment athletes arrive to the final award ceremony, these events rely on the energy, commitment, and passion of volunteers like you.
Whether you’re a lifelong climbing fan or completely new to the sport, there’s a role for everyone—and no climbing experience is needed for most positions!
Volunteering is a fun, rewarding way to:
- Give back to the climbing community
- Meet like-minded people
- Get an inside look at how national events run
- Play a critical role in supporting our athletes
We’re currently recruiting volunteers for upcoming events, and we’d love for you to join us. Here are just some of the roles available:
- Check-In – Greet athletes, mark attendance, distribute bibs and ID cards, and collect phones prior to isolation
- Athletes’ Runner – Make sure athletes are ready when it’s their time to climb, and track down anyone missing
- ISO Monitor – Keep an eye on isolation to make sure everything runs fairly and smoothly
- Transition Zone Monitor – Oversee the movement of athletes between climbs and help with flow
- Judge – Experienced judges ensure fair scoring (must have completed the CEC Judging Module)
- Assistant Judge – Support judges (great for those who are new or learning the ropes)
- Belayer – Work closely with athletes to keep them safe during their climbs
- Rope Puller – Assist belayers in rope management throughout the day
- Merchandise Coordinator – Help fans and supporters get their hands on CEC swag
- Result System Assistant – Collect scorecards, snap pics of judge sheets, and enter results
- Video Review Assistant – Cue up athlete footage to support fair and accurate reviews
