Feb 2, 2026

Day 2 delivered a spectacular finale to the 2026 Speed National Championships, as Canada’s fastest climbers pushed the limits of what’s possible on the wall. Records tumbled, titles were claimed, and a new generation of stars stepped into the spotlight in a day defined by precision, power, and pure adrenaline.

What a thrilling finale—two new champions rise to the top!

On the men’s side, Dylan Le (QC) dethroned four-time National Champion Ethan Pitcher (BC) to claim the Senior Division crown. On the women’s side, Avery MacDonald (BC) made history as the youngest athlete to win the Senior Division title in the 17+ category, cementing her place among Canada’s elite.

Youth A (U19) Men – Canadian Records
Bruce Kong (BC) – 5.903, 5.658

Bruce has done it again! A model of consistency and ambition, he adds yet another Youth A (U19) Canadian record to his growing legacy—only to break it again minutes later. After setting five records in Youth B (U17), Bruce is clearly on a mission to become Canada’s fastest climber. His blistering 5.903, followed by 5.658, puts him just 0.3 seconds from the Senior record—keep your eyes on this rising star.

Senior Men – Canadian Record
Ethan Flynn-Pitcher (BC) – 5.261

The master keeps getting faster! Canada’s fastest climber since 2022—briefly eclipsed by Michael Finn-Henry in 2023—Ethan adds yet another milestone to his legacy with his sixth Canadian record. His blazing 5.261 puts him within striking distance of the world’s best and on the brink of breaking the 5-second barrier. Locked in, relentless, and unstoppable.

Youth A (U19) & Senior Women – Canadian Records
Avery MacDonald (BC) – 7.871, 7.827

Fame hasn’t gone to Avery’s head. After becoming the fastest woman in Canadian climbing history, she raised the bar again—breaking her 24-hour-old record not once, but twice on Sunday. Adding to the accolades, she also claimed the Senior National Title. Now stepping into her first year on the Senior circuit, all eyes turn to Avery as she prepares to take on the World Climbing Series.
